Full Circle completes acquisition of Mac of All Trades

Full Circle Electronics is beefing up its Apple-related ITAD and e-recycling capabilities, acquiring one of the world’s largest Apple refurbishers.

Full Circle closed on its acquisition of Mac of All Trades in mid-August. The deal will see Full Circle operate the company, which has handled second-hand Apple electronics since 1995.

Mac of All Trades will retain its name while helping bolster Full Circle’s Apple capabilities, Full Circle CEO Dave Daily said. Work on the deal began when Mac of All Trades reached out about a potential acquisition in the spring, said Daily, who declined to share the financial terms. Given the consistent demand for Apple products and the value they retain, the opportunity was not one to pass up, he said.

“We felt their expertise in the Apple ecosystem could be very valuable,” he said. “We felt it would be complementary to our customers.”

Daily spent Monday in Mac of All Trades’ Tampa headquarters meeting its 40 employees — all of whom will be kept on for the foreseeable future; CEO Michael Snyder will be among them, with Daily saying he plans to stay on board for 12-18 months.

Work at the 25,000-square-foot Mac of All Trades will continue as normal, Daily said — for employees and customers alike. Initial plans are to look for potential operational efficiencies, he said, while sending some of the Apple products received at Full Circle sites to Tampa for processing, given the institutional knowledge of that platform within the building. Long term, Full Circle may take some of that knowledge to apply to its two main ITAD facilities in Chicago and the Bay Area.

“Any time you do an acquisition, there has to be some thought of synergies and mutual growth,” he said. “It is a really well-run, clean, organized facility. Full Circle does have some nice tech, things we are working on with our systems that could be beneficial to them from an IT standpoint … and hopefully we can bring them in more business through our bigger footprint.”

Daily said continued growth within the ITAD industry makes this move a natural progression. Full Circle will consider any acquisitions or other growth should it make sense, he said.

“With AI influencing refresh cycles, with the growth in general of ITAD and e-recycling, the need to create some scale to invest in technologies — we think that now is the ideal time to be investing in ITAD and our business,” he said. “When you look at companies to acquire, the biggest variable is the culture, is it a good cultural fit. That’s one thing we definitely have with Mac of All Trades.”

Prior to this transaction, Arizona-based Full Circle operated 10 sites in six states, as well as Mexico and Colombia. It’s one of nearly two dozen companies owned by San Diego-based Tide Rock Holdings.

Earlier this month, Full Circle unveiled its new customer portal at the ITAD Summit in Las Vegas. The streamlined platform was designed to track assets in real time, generate customized reports and review financial details.
