AZEK will build a plant in Idaho to produce composite lumber made with recycled PE.
The Chicago-based manufacturer announced that it will retrofit a building in Boise for its newest production facility. Construction is expected to begin this year, and the plant is scheduled to be fully operational in 2022.
AZEK manufacturers decking boards, pavers and sheets using recovered PE, PVC and wood, among other materials. Its recycling programs consumed about 400 million pounds of recovered materials during the 2020 fiscal year.
At the Boise factory, AZEK will make its TimberTech brand lumber, made with recovered PE and wood. The plant will be AZEK’s ninth across the country. The company currently has two plants in Scranton, Pa.; two in Wilmington, Ohio; two in Aliquippa, Pa.; one in Ashland, Ohio; and one in Eagan, Minn.
According to a press release, the Boise plant is a key part of the company’s planned $180 million capacity expansion program.
AZEK became a publicly traded corporation last year and disclosed details on the company’s operations and finances.
