Analysis of how snarls in global supply chains are impacting recycling equipment providers and MRF operators was of interest to readers last month. | BaanTaksinStudio/Shutterstock

A variety of articles drew our readers’ interest last month, including coverage of a large MRF contract, a battle over EPR in Colorado, equipment delivery delays and more.

The list below shows our top stories published in April in terms of unique page views.

1 | San Antonio selects Balcones for $113 million MRF contract
The seventh-largest city in the U.S. is switching recycling sortation contractors, with a unanimous vote April 7 to approve a contract with Balcones Resources. The city previously had a processing deal with Republic Services.

2 | Paper recycling sits at center of evolving EPR debate
Municipal recycling advocates and the fiber manufacturing industry are at odds over a producer responsibility proposal in Colorado, underscoring a major rift in the push for stronger recycling policy.

3 | Supply chain jam creates long delays for recycling equipment
Equipment manufacturers and their customers are feeling the pressure of extended lead times and supply chain backups, forcing them to adapt as demand soars and supply dwindles.

4 | Longtime WM recycling leader moves into retirement
Susan Robinson, who has been central to shaping Waste Management’s strategy around policy and sustainability for over two decades, had her last day with the company on March 31.

5 | US plastic recycling numbers continue to fall
The U.S. is processing more of its scrap plastic domestically, but the overall weight of plastic recycled in 2020 dropped just under 6% from 2019, according to an annual industry report.
