in E-Scrap

Readers last month were most drawn to a story about a rare earth recycling venture that received nearly $30 million in federal backing. A new data center play from Sims also garnered clicks.

The list below shows our top stories published in September in terms of unique page views.

1 | Rare earth recycler draws $28 million in federal funding
Urban Mining Co., which uses an innovative process to recycle rare earth magnets, has received financial backing as part of the U.S. response to the coronavirus pandemic.

2 | Sims adds site specifically for data center material
Global e-scrap and ITAD processor Sims Lifecycle Services is rolling out a system focused on retiring data center equipment. The company framed the move as a way to increase reuse of components.

3 | Company refines EV battery recycling method using e-scrap
A Nevada startup looking to build a major electric vehicle battery recycling operation is starting off by processing batteries from consumer electronics.

4 | CompuPoint agrees to recycle CRTs to settle lawsuit
An e-scrap company will take back and recycle the millions of pounds of CRT materials that it originally shipped to Closed Loop Refining and Recovery, under a recently disclosed settlement agreement.

5 | Industry stakeholders say material is flowing again
Processors and state programs alike saw a lot less material this spring as the COVID-19 pandemic took hold. But in the last couple months, inbound volumes have returned and surged in some cases. That fact has created new challenges.
