News from Glavel, How2Recycle and more

in Industry Announcements

Equipment supplier CPM Holdings acquired equipment company Bliss Industries.

Glavel, a company producing a gravel substitute made from recycled glass, will build a processing facility in Essex, Vt.

How2Recycle announced it is downgrading the recyclability of rigid polystyrene packaging and rigid black plastic packaging, meaning those materials will be labeled “not yet recyclable” rather than instructing the consumer to check locally for recycling availability.

Paper and plastic bag producer Novolex released its annual sustainability report, indicating that in 2020, 49% of the company’s fiber sourcing came from post-consumer material and 4% of its plastic input came from post-consumer resin. Novolex also announced it acquired Vegware, a U.S. and U.K. producer of foodservice products made from plant-based resin.

Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) CEO David Biderman was elected chair of the Department of Commerce’s Environmental Technologies Trade Advisory Committee’s (ETTAC) Waste Management and Circular Economy Subcommittee.

Sonoco released its annual corporate responsibility report, offering several updates on the company’s recycled fiber activities.
