News from Blancco Technology Group, exIT Technologies and more

Data erasure technology company Blancco Technology Group released an environmental, social and governance (ESG) report that noted it erased 54 million IT assets and other data-bearing devices weighing over 150 million pounds during its 2021 fiscal year.  

Jeff Bittner of exIT Technologies has started a podcast interviewing ITAD industry leaders. 

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection recognized a variety of recycling leaders in the state, including a 16-year-old who created the “e-Salvage” organization and website to help inform the public about the importance of electronics recycling.

The Northeast Recycling Council (NERC) scheduled its first diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) training for Dec. 9. The online event will include speakers from Schnitzer Steel and the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI).

Shred-it, an information security service provided by Stericycle, released its annual Data Protection Report with information on gaps and opportunities in physical and digital data protection. 

Nonprofit group Software Freedom Conservancy sued TV manufacturer Vizio, alleging the OEM’s software is violating “copyleft licensing” requirements, which help consumers update and continue to use their electronics. 

Universal Recycling Technologies (URT) hired Ray Zielke, formerly of Jabil, Inc., as the company’s new vice president of sales and marketing.

U.S. EPA posted information covering what federal law requires with regard to solar panel shipping and recycling.
