Post-consumer PP baling twine processor Green Group Reprocessing suffered a large fire at its Albert Lea, Minn. facility.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) launched its first scientific research expedition to investigate the presence of microplastics in Antarctica. 

Thailand-based I.P. ONE partnered with ENVICCO and ALPLA Packaging to recycle colored plastic into bottles. 

Komar Industries, which designs and manufactures industrial waste and recycling processing equipment, acquired municipal recycling equipment supplier NexGen Municipal.

Mars China launched a Snickers bar in mono-material PP packaging. 

Tech accessories supplier Mophie released the iPhone 15 line of its Juice Pack smartphone case that has an integrated rechargeable battery. The new line includes up to 50% post-consumer recycled plastic for the first time.

TOMRA appointed Michelle Landon regional service director for the Americas.

The Youngstown, Ohio City Council approved a one-year moratorium on local pyrolysis operations processing plastics, e-scrap, tires and more, specifically aimed at an in-development pyrolysis plant by SOBE Thermal Energy Systems. Company owner David Ferro told Plastics Recycling Update the company was not planning to process plastics at this site, but it may at future sites elsewhere.
