Utah’s Momentum Recycling released its 2025 impact report.

April 28

The Container Research Institute released its 2025 Impact Report, detailing the group’s work to advance deposit return systems.

Textile manufacturer Cotopaxi released its 2025 impact report.

April 27

Dow and EU recycled cartonboard producer RDM Group launched Multiboard CirculaRR, recycled paper fiber coated with chemically recycled PE for food-contact applications in Europe.

Eco-Products was named an official Zero-Waste Partner of the San Diego Padres baseball team, in support of Petco Park’s composting program and efforts to divert gameday waste from landfills.

April 24

Sorting technology firm TOMRA opened a new testing and training center in Charlotte, North Carolina, featuring a testing circuit, dedicated warehouse for critical parts storage and extensive training facilities.

The free Waste to Energy and Materials Technical Assistance Program is accepting applications  for state, local and Tribal governments through May 30. The program is administered by the National Laboratory of the Rockies (formerly National Renewable Energy Laboratory) and the US DOE Alternative Fuels and Feedstocks Office.

April 22

Indiana’s Steel Dynamics reported a 155% quarterly increase on the year for operating income for its Omni metal recycling plants. 

April 21

BinMaster Sensors and Technologies promoted Scott Hudson from president to CEO.

The Aug. 19-21 Tennessee Sustainability Conference is accepting presentation proposals through April 30.

PMMI is establishing the PACK gives BACK Charitable Foundation, backed by an initial $6 million investment from PMMI’s reserve fund.

Automotive industry sustainability group Suppliers Partnership for the Environment elected Ahmed Elganzouri from Magna as chair of its board of directors.

April 24

US EPA administrator Lee Zeldin published an op-ed advocating for chemical recycling, for which it is accepting public comment through May 4.

April 21

Altstoff Recycling Austria, Bernegger and GreenDot began construction on the 41,000 ton/year Sort4cycle pre-processing facility in Enns, Austria.

Europe’s RecyClass gave full approval for the first polypropylene filled resin from Sirmax for the automotive and electrical & electronic equipment (EEE) sector.

Elipso, the French packaging manufacturers association, accused resin producers Ineos, LyondellBasell, Sabic and Indorama of “abusive” force majeure declarations and “speculative” price increases. 

April 14

The American Chemistry Council and Plastics Industry Association hosted a joint legislative fly-in to Washington, DC, April 13-15. 

Dow COO Karen Carter is succeeding CEO Jim Fitterling, who will remain as the executive chair of the company’s board of directors.

Recycling startup Aduro Clean Technologies awarded the permitting contract for its Dutch project to Ebert HERA.

The Plastics Industry Association redesigned its Recycling is Real website. 

Republic Services expanded capacity at the Peabody Recycling Center near Boston.

April 7

The School of Packaging at Michigan State University received a $47 million gift from Chuck and Jackie Frasier.  

April 3

Carbio pushed the expected startup of its PET recycling plant in Longlaville, France, to first-half 2028.

Film recycler Charter Next Generation appointed Mark Howell as executive vice president of sales, to accelerate the company’s commercial strategy and growth.

Martin Vogt, president and CEO of EFS-Plastics, received the Sustainability Award from Canadian Plastics. 

Unilever is cleaving off its foods division and combining the segment with spice giant McCormick to create a major global foods business, with the transaction expected to close in mid-2027.

April 2

India’s Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change raised the recycled-content mandate for food packaging to 40% effective April 1.

Nova Chemicals is now Borouge International, following its combination with Borealis and Borouge, with new 50:50 ownership under XRG (the investment arm of the Saudi state-owned energy major ADNOC) and Austria’s OMV.

Italian thermoplastics company Sirmax and small appliance maker De’ Longhi developed a coffee machine featuring exterior parts made from 70% recycled ABS plastic sourced from end-of-life electronics components.

April 24

CompuCycle and the Pearland school district near Houston are launching the TechCycle workforce training program for students with disabilities.

April 23

Battery recycling technology company Ace Green Recycling has attracted $32 million in financing, which will help support a battery recycling platform and a proposed special purpose acquisition company business with Athena Technology Acquisition Corp. II.

Clean Earth launched solar panel recycling services at its site in Lancaster, Texas, which can process about 600,000 panels a year.

Elgin Recycling expanded its recycled electronics processing capabilities with a new 52,174-square-foot facility in Gilberts, Illinois, completed by Opus Group.

Software company Samsara has joined the Enterprise Program of electronics recycling certification organization e-Stewards. 

April 21

M2i Global and Volato Group are partnering with Regenerate Technology Global to advance battery recycling technology in the US. 

April 15

TSR Group and chemicals giant BASF are partnering to advance recycling of EV batteries in Europe.

April 14

UK-based DEScycle is collaborating with Cisco to process electronic scrap boards derived from Cisco hardware to evaluate batch-scale performance, generate recovery data and provide analysis. 

Gov. Andy Beshear signed a voluntary battery EPR into law in Kentucky.

Device protection company Assurant is partnering in April with AT&T for a second year of the “Tree for Trade-in” program, which supports the Arbor Day Foundation’s forest restoration work in areas of California impacted by wildfires.
