SK chemicals announced that its copolyester and its PET-based product family have been recognized by RecyClass as recyclable.

May 18

Goodwill Industries of San Diego County has begun diverting plastics from stores to landfills.

May 15

Canon USA launched its black plastic analyzer in North America, to help enable sorting of the hard-to-recycle items.

May 12

CalRecycle published new producer guidance for SB 54, including how to determine producer status and covered materials.

Emerald Packaging received the Flexographic Technical Association’s first Printer of the Year award, for its leadership in print quality, innovation and sustainability. The company also was honored by the Flexible Packaging Association for its 30% PCR potato bags for Walmart.

EU packager Mondi and detergent manufacturer Dreco partnered to develop packaging for powdered laundry detergent, containing 50% PCR.

CG Roxane, maker of Crystal Geyser bottled water, is adding PET preform and HDPE cap production to its facility in Benton, Tennessee, to complement its existing RPET operations there. 

The EU announced a new audit protocol for food-contact recycled plastics.

A new study from Germany’s nova-Institut supports the use of bio-based feedstocks for plastic packaging.

Certification body e-Stewards announced that Recycle Global Exchange (RGX) is its newest Enterprise Partner.

Copper recycler Aurubis raised its forecast for the current fiscal year to €425 million-€525 million, higher by €50 million ($60 million), on higher commodity price expectations.

The World Bank forecasts that global metals and minerals pricing will rise by 17% in 2026, higher than overall average commodities at 16%.
