News from Association of Plastic Recyclers, Veolia and more

The Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) announced the first recipients of its Meets Preferred Guidance (MPG) recognition.

The Government of Canada anticipates drafting regulations for a single-use plastic ban in 2022, after initially projecting the ban would take effect by the end of 2021.

The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) released a statement in support of the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of the Ocean Shipping Reform Act, which includes measures to lessen the current global supply chain challenges.

The Northeast Recycling Council (NERC) and two other organizations will host a Jan. 6 webinar exploring benefits and unintended consequences of recycled-content mandates.

The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) recognized DSM Engineering Materials, Ford Motor Company and HellermannTyton for their use of recycled ocean plastic in the Ford Bronco Sport.

Bag and luggage brand Solo New York announced it has used the equivalent of 10 million oceanbound PET bottles to make fabric since establishing recycled plastic targets in 2020.

Resin producer TotalEnergies and automotive components supplier Plastic Omnium announced they will jointly develop new automotive materials made from recycled PP.

Waste management and plastics processing firm Veolia will supply brand owner L’Oréal with recycled resin for use in cosmetic packaging.
