News from Mondi, Trex Company and more

The Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) announced the APR Recycling Demand Champion Companies and 2021 impact at its June 2022 meeting, finding that its program designed to drive market demand for recycled plastics generated 138.7 million pounds of new demand for PCR in 2021.

CG Roxane, maker of Crystal Geyser Alpine Spring Water, announced a campaign called “Where Does It Come From?” that tells the story of the natural spring source of its water. 

Coperion began construction on a state-of-the-art recycling test lab at its Niederbiegen/Weingarten, Germany, production facility, giving it over 50,000 square feet of test lab capacities in Germany.

The Foam Recycling Coalition, part of the Foodservice Packaging Institute, reached a program milestone by exceeding $1 million in grants awarded since 2015. 

Kimberly-Clark Professional expanded its RightCycle Program, a large-scale recycling program for non-hazardous lab, cleanroom and industrial PPE waste, to include flex-film plastic packaging from Kimtech and KleenGuard products. 

Packaging and paper company Mondi tested its mono-material PP pouches and rollstock material at the National Test Centre Circular Plastics in the Netherlands and found they can be sorted into the proper recycling streams.

Sonoco participated in European recycling trials that found digital watermarking had accurate sortation results, validating its HolyGrail 2.0 sorting prototype. 

Composite decking manufacturer Trex Company published its 2021 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report, finding that in 2021 it upcycled more than 1 billion pounds of recycled PE film and reclaimed wood in its products.
