PetroChem Wire: Recycled HDPE Injection Grade Flake fell last year

HDPE HMW pellet and flake prices rose 2 cents per pound last week on the back of strong demand from the end-user sector.

In the U.S. South, tight supplies of scrap drums and intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), the raw material for recycled pellet and flake, was also reported. Repro business was done at 45 to 48 cents per pound and regrind at 22 to 24 cents per pound, both picked up in the U.S. South.

In the prime market, polyethylene spot prices were mixed last week on low volume. February and March HDPE blow molding high impact transacted at 52.75 cents per pound railcar FOB Houston in small quantity. Bagged inventory of the same quality material was available at 54 to 55 cents per pound FOB Houston.
